Simple Ground Station:
The
SGS is a software application that is installed on the OTM2 module and is
intended to be used in conjunction with Voice Channel Modules (VCM)s and
Multimode Digital Radios (MDR)s to test NEXCOM VDL Mode 3 radio frequency
compatibility with the existing FAA DSB-AM radio infrastructure.
|
The
SGS has internally stored compressed voice data that can be transmitted by
an MDR with V-Bursts in any MAC slot of a 4V system configuration.
The voice data is received and compared to the transmitted data.
Bit errors and dropped frames are reported on the terminal interface.
The SGS can also transmit live audio from a headset connected to a
VCM in the same chassis and monitor received V-Bursts on the headset.
Live audio is not checked for bit errors or dropped messages. |
A second MDR transmitter can transmit another set of V-Bursts in any MAC
slot to determine the interference affects, if any, on the other MDR’s
transmissions.
The
SGS has been developed for the NEXCOM Group (ACB-560) (ACB-240), and (ASR-1)
of the Federal Aviation Administration’s William J. Hughes Technical
Center.
